Bring the evidence of fraud

The Board of Directors of the Cheddi Jagan International Airport, Timehri yesterday called on the Alliance For Change (AFC) to come forward with evidence to support its allegations of “massive fraud” at CJIA.

“The CJIA Board of Directors is calling on the Alliance For Change to make available to the appropriate authorities all evidence it claims to have with regards to the alleged massive fraud at CJIA,” a statement from the board read.

On Thursday AFC’s executive Catherine Hughes told a press conference that her party was made aware of “major skullduggery” at the CJIA and that reports received indicate that very senior officials may be using their office to perpetuate fraud against the company.

According to the statement the Board believes that the allegations may be the work of an aggrieved senior employee who was recently disciplined for misconduct.

To this end the Board urged the AFC to be cautious about this matter and not buy into the allegations.

The release said the AFC should directly engage the board or go to the police with evidence that it has.

AFC leader Khemraj Ramjattan told Stabroek News that much evidence has been gathered but the employees who made the allegations are scared to go public.

He said his party is currently working on getting documentation to show the wrongdoings.
