Banks DIH hosting 60 work/study students

Around sixty students from secondary, technical and tertiary institutions in regions three, four and seven are attending a six-week Work Study Attachment Programme at Banks DIH Limited.

A release from Banks DIH said that the programme which started in June and runs until the end of August on a rotation basis is being attended by students of the University of Guyana, Government Technical Institute (GTI), Guyana Industrial Training Centre (GITC) Carnegie School of Home Economics, Annandale Secondary, Queen’s College, St. Stanislaus College, Stewartville Secondary, Patentia Secondary of West Demerara Region 3, St. Rose’s High, St. Joseph’s High, Camille Institute of Business and Three Mile Secondary of Bartica in Region Seven. Thecla Gonsalves, Personnel Executive related that the students are exposed to training in several sectors of the Company’s operation.

“At present we have students attached to the Central Laboratory, Trisco Division, Vehicle and Central workshops, Property Maintenance, Environment and Safety, Refrigeration and Electrical departments at Thirst Park as well as our restaurants at Demico House and Camp Street,” she said in the release.

Gonsalves said, “In addition three students from Three Mile Secondary School in the mining district of Bartica are currently at the Company’s Bartica Branch.”
