Man shot on Eping Avenue still critical

Kwame Smith, who was shot in the neck on Monday evening on Eping Avenue is still in a critical condition at the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH).

Smith, 32, of Lot 411 ‘B’ Field, Sophia, according to his wife Alicia Henry, was on his way home when he was set upon and shot. “I was at home waiting for him”, Henry told Stabroek News.

Henry told this newspaper that she was at a loss as to why Smith was shot, since all his valuables were intact.

She said he was riding his pedal cycle, had a laptop, an iPhone 4S and cash on his person, all of which were untouched.

Smith had surgery on Monday but remains in the Intensive Care Unit of the GPH.

According to reports, Smith who is a shoemaker, had been making his way home through Eping Avenue, Bel Air around 10 pm when he was stopped by another man. The motive of the shooting is still unclear.
