Car wash worker charged over ammo

Dwayne Wallace, an employee of a car wash, was on Wednesday remanded to prison after he was charged over the discovery of ammunition in a vehicle he was driving.

Wallace, 25, of Lot 65 David Street, Kitty, was charged with having a .32 live round of ammunition without licence on August 10, at Georgetown.

When he appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts yesterday, the unrepresented man denied the charge when it was read to him by Magistrate Ann McLennan. Prosecutor Deniro Jones said that police were conducting a routine search when they unearthed a magazine and round in the pocket under the steering wheel of the vehicle he was driving.

The magistrate remanded Wallace to prison as he advanced no special reasons for bail to be considered.

His next court date is September 15.
