Drivers get bail after denying causing death charge

Two men were charged with causing death by dangerous driving on Friday, at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.

Linden Harry and Mohammed Khan both denied that they on May 22, at Regent and Albert Streets, drove their vehicles in a dangerous manner, causing the death of Carl Bacchus, when the charge was read to them by Magistrate Fabayo Azore.

According to Police Prosecutor Michael Grant, on the day in question, Khan was driving motor car HC 167 along Albert Street, while Harry was driving motor van GRR 1667 along Regent Street. Grant said at the junction of Albert and Regent streets, Khan did not stop and Harry’s vehicle collided with Khan’s vehicle. Grant added that as a result of the collision, Carl Bacchus was struck down. Bacchus was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where he died.
