No arrests yet in restaurant murder

The man who killed Debra Blackman during a botch-ed robbery at the Chinese Delicious Restaurant on Saturday is yet to be apprehended, the police say.

Blackman, 48, of Critchlow Circle, Tucville, a waitress and cashier who worked at the restaurant for the past 10 years, was shot by a gunman, who appeared to have two other accomplices.

‘A’ Division Comman-der Senior Superintendent Clifton Hicken told Stabroek News that the suspect, who was recorded committing the murder, is yet to be arrested. He further mentioned that the police are still reviewing the footage from the restaurant and that investigations continue.

According to reports, the gunman walked into the restaurant, which is located between Haley and Hardina Streets and shot the woman in her head. Seconds after the shooting the man was seen walking out of the restaurant and he subsequently jumped onto a CG motorcycle, which sped off.

A post-mortem examination later found that Blackman died as a result of a single gunshot wound, which entered her shoulder and exited through her neck.
