Chopping victim says attackers still walking free

Eion Henry, who was chopped during a beat down by four men two weeks ago, says he does not understand why his attackers have not been arrested.

Henry, 34, a Campbellville resident, was chopped several times about his body during the attack by the men, whom he alleged were sent by his ex-girlfriend. Earlier that day, he had an argument with the woman after confronting her about telling their children that they no longer had a father because he was dead.

“All this time pass and I’m not getting any justice from the police,” he lamented.

Henry said an identification parade was conducted but none of his attackers were present. “Still they haven’t arrested anyone. I really don’t know what’s going on. I can’t understand why it should be this hard to lock up these people,” he said. “These men chop me up and get to walk around the place while I had to be in and out of the hospital getting checkups,” he added.

Henry’s ex-girlfriend was arrested a day after they attack but was released.

Henry said the woman had changed the children’s surnames on their birth certificates without informing him and had threatened to kill him. Henry was attacked during a visit to his mother’s house in Craig Street, Campbellville. When he entered the yard, two men, who were standing in front of the yard, rushed to him and started to kick him about his body, but he managed to escape after his brother intervened.

Later that night, however, the men returned with two other men. They were armed with knives and handguns. They chased him through the street before throwing him to the ground and placing a gun at his head. He was chopped nine times about his body. Henry claimed he saw the men leave with his ex-girlfriend in a car.
