The man who allegedly caused the death of Ramesh Jaigopaul was yesterday granted bail when he appeared at the Anna Regina Magis-trate’s Court.
Hardin Sitaldin, a 37-year-old bus driver of Maria’s Delight was charged with causing death by dangerous driving.
According to the police, on August 24, Jaigopaul was on his motorcycle bearing number plate CF 8679 proceeding south on the eastern side of the Walton Hall Public Road, while Sitaldin who was the driver of motorbus BLL 3414 was going in the same direction at a fast rate of speed. Jaigopaul indicated that he was turning and in the process the bus overtook him and there was a collision. The bus made contact with the centre of the motorcycle throwing Jaigopaul off. He sustained injuries and was picked up in an unconscious state and rushed to the Suddie Public Hospital. He was later transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries on August 31.
Sitaldin was not represented and he was not required to plead to the charge.
There being no objections by Prosecutor Haimwant Raamsewak, bail was subsequently granted by Magistrate Scarce in the sum of $300,000.
The man was told to return to Court on October 27 for the commencement of trial.
