Skeldon power being restored but blackouts to continue

Operations at the GuySuco-Skeldon facility were restored last evening following the resolution of an industrial strike action, GPL said this afternoon but load shedding will continue.
Functioning of the Co-gen facility has been gradually restored and increasing levels of generating capacity made available to the GPL grid. It is expected that the maximum available capacity from Skeldon will be available prior to the evening peak demand, GPL said.
Meanwhile, the load shedding guide previously instituted remains in effect until Friday, September 26, 2014. GPL said that the replacement component for the turbocharger of the No. 3 diesel generator at Kingston 2 will arrive this evening, and arrangements for its immediate installation are in place; this machine is expected to be available by midnight tonight, reducing the level of load shedding contained in the guide. Modifications to the guide will be published early tomorrow.
The No. 1 Diesel Generator at the Kingston 1 Plant, GPL said which is undergoing planned major maintenance remains on schedule to return to service on Sunday, September 28.
