Bandits grab $6M in jewels in attack on Dundee businessman

Bandits yesterday attacked and robbed a Dundee, Mahaicony businessman and escaped with over $6M in jewellery and cash.

Gopaul Brijnandan, of Eastern Half Dundee, Mahaicony, was robbed by two men, including one armed with a handgun, while in his business located at his home.

According to the police, the men entered the business around 12 hrs and proceeded to hold, assault and subsequently rob Brijnandan.

The men managed to escape in a waiting vehicle with a quantity of gold jewellery valued $6M and US$1,100 cash along with $780.

The men also discharged three rounds in the air before their escape.

When contacted yesterday, a relative of Brijnandan explained that the man and the family were in no position to speak with the media about the attack.

However, the relative shared that Brijnandan was doing well.

Police investigations are in progress.
