Parfaite Harmonie fire

Mother of Parfaite Harmonie fire survivors expressed fear that the second suspect fingered in the arson/murder may return to “finish the job.”

The two minor victims of the fire which claimed the life of Jason Munroe, remain hospitalized at the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH), with one scheduled for surgery tomorrow.

Amanda Daniels told Stabroek News that her 15-year-old daughter Sontel Callendar, who is a patient of the GPH’s Burns Care Unit nursing third degree burns, will undergo surgery tomorrow. She further mentioned that 3-year-old Princess Bobb, who suffered minor burns to the skin, is recovering nicely at the Pediatric Ward at GPH.

Daniels said although two men were named as suspects by her daughter Zullina Callender, only Clifton Joseph called ‘Smiley’ was charged with the murder of Munroe, who perished in the fire. She further mentioned that she fears that the suspect who was not charged may want to harm the family again. “He didn’t get to finish the job” she said.

It was about 01:00h on Monday that neighbours heard what sounded like fighting followed by screams coming from the house. Soon afterwards they saw the house engulfed in flames and persons running from the building.

Munroe, who was at the time staying with his girlfriend Zullina, her 15-year-old sister Shontel and Zullina’s 3-year-old daughter, had been knocked unconscious during a fight with intruders and perished in the blaze.
