GT&T, CIOG ink 3-year funding pact

The Guyana Telephone and Telegraph Company (GT&T) yesterday signed a 3-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) agreement with the Central Islamic Organisation of Guyana (CIOG, which will see the CIOG receiving $3 million a year for various programmes.
Public Relations Officer of GT&T Allison Parker said that this year, the money will be used for the education of orphans and vulnerable children attending the Meten-Meer-Zorg Islamic Academy, the sponsorship of CIOG Ramadan programmes and the sponsoring of a cultural programme in observance of Eid-ul-Adha which will be celebrated Sunday.
“Our partnership with CIOG has been in existence many years ago and in fact this MoU has been in the making for some time hence we are pleased to be signing this MoU before the auspicious Eid ul-Adha celebrations on Sunday,” Marketing Manager of GT&T Fay Wharton said.

G&TT recognises the CIOG as a strong organisation with significant representation of the Muslim community in Guyana and believes the MoU will further strengthen their existing relationship as it seeks to support various aspects of the CIOGs initiatives over the next three years.
