Doctors from US due for outreach

The Ministry of Health on Wednesday announced the imminent arrival of the Caribbean Medical Mission Medical Team from USA.

It said that the team will be donating substantial critical medical equipment and supplies including cardiac monitors, foetal monitors and Dopplers to the New Amsterdam Regional Hospital.

The team’s visit begins today and ends on November 2 during which time members will conduct clinics and medical outreaches at various locations throughout the country and perform surgeries in the field of obstetrics/gynaecology, and other major general surgeries at the New Amsterdam Regional Hospital, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health.

The team comprises doctors and nurses of varying specialties, all of whom reside and practice in the USA.

The release from the ministry said that the Caribbean Medical Mission Medical Team will hand over the donations mentioned above to the New Amsterdam Regional Hospital on Sunday at 11 am in the hospital’s boardroom.

The Caribbean Medical Mission has visited Guyana several times in the past.
