Linden man hangs self after chopping lover

The body of a man in his late thirties was found hanging from a tree in One Mile, Wismar, early yesterday morning.

Floyd Hollingsworth, allegedly committed suicide by hanging after he believed he had murdered his estranged girlfriend, Melica McLennon, in the vicinity of a popular Wismar night spot early Sunday morning. According to eyewitnesses, Hollingsworth dealt McLennon a number of chops to the upper body and head as she was entering a car not far from the night spot. Eyewitnesses say that in his uncontrolled outburst, Hollingsworth also chopped a friend who was with McLennon.

McLennon was rushed to the Linden Hospital Complex in an unconscious condition while Hollingsworth fled the scene. Probably, fearing that his estranged girlfriend had died or that she was in a serious condition that would warrant his arrest for an indictable crime, which would result in a long sentence, Hollingsworth decided to take his own life.

A number of persons informed Stabroek News that Hollingsworth’s brutal action against his ex lover climaxed a number of differences they have recently experienced in their relationship.
