Waramadong farmer on bail after denying wounding, assault

A farmer was yesterday placed on $160,000 bail after denying charges of unlawful wounding and assault.

Nash Granes, 36, of Waramadong, Upper Mazaruni, pleaded not guilty to both charges, when they were read to him by Magistrate Ann McLennan in Georgetown.

It is alleged that on November 12, at Waramadong, Granes unlawfully and maliciously wounded Deyomar Francis.

It is also alleged that on the same day he assaulted Derrick Bernard.

No other details were related to the court.

Attorney Clive Ford, who represented Granes, told the court in his bail application that Granes had an unblemished criminal record. Ford also said Granes is married and he is the father of six children.

Granes was subsequently placed on $150,000 bail on the malicious wounding charge and $10, 000 bail on the assault charge.

The case was adjourned until December 15.
