Surujbally honoured by Caribbean Veterinary Medical Association

Dr Steve Surujbally was given the Distinguished Award by the Caribbean Veterinary Medical Association at its 28th biennial conference in Grand Cayman recently in recognition of his many years of exceptional service to Caribbean veterinary practice and his contribution to the conferences of the association.

According to a press release, Dr Surujbally is a Hubert H Humphrey Fellow (University of California, Davis, 1991-92) and graduate (BVSc, MVSc, Dr Med Vet) of the University of Leipzig, Germany, (1962-1971).

He has been a practising veterinary surgeon for almost 46 years, and has several peer-reviewed publications to his credit.

He has been Guyana’s representative, inter alia, for many years at the International Office of Epizootics (OIE) and at the South American Commission for the Fight against Foot and Mouth Disease (COSALFA).

As well as being a practicing veterinarian, Dr Surujbally is also Chairman of the Guyana Elections Commission.

Guyana was elected unanimously to host the 29th Caribbean Veterinary Medical Association Conference in 2016.
