No bail for man charged with stealing from uncle

Imran Rahaman, who allegedly broke and entered his uncle’s storeroom and stole a quantity of items worth over $500,000, was remanded to prison when he appeared in court on Friday.

The unrepresented man, who could not provide an address to the court, pleaded not guilty to the charge which stated that between November 24 and November 25, 2014, at James Street, Albouystown, he broke and entered the store room of Ahmad Rahaman and carted off a quantity of items carrying a total value of $517,000.

Prosecutor Deniro Jones objected to bail since the accused could not provide a fixed place of abode. He also said that if granted bail, the man might not return for trial.

He added that none of the stolen items were recovered.

Magistrate Ann McLennan remanded Rahaman to prison and he was ordered to return to court on December 4.
