LIAT offering three more Guyana-Barbados flights

LIAT has added three additional flights between Barbados and Guyana and four new services per week between Dominica and St Maarten.

The flights between Barbados and Guyana will be operated from the Ogle International Airport, bringing the total number of services it offers to Guyana to 10 per week, the company said in a press release. LI 391 is scheduled to depart Barbados at 8.50 am, arriving at Ogle at 10.50 am on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

The return flight, LI 390 departs Ogle at 11.20 am, arriving in Barbados at 1.20 pm.

Meanwhile, the LI 331 is scheduled to depart Dominica at 11.05 am on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, arriving in St Maarten at 12.05 pm. The return service is scheduled to depart St Maarten at 3.05 pm, arriving in Dominica at 4.05 pm.

LIAT also confirmed that CEO David Evans recently terminated the services of two pilots “charged with blatantly disregarding instructions from the company’s Flight Operations Department” and flying an aircraft to the VC Bird International Airport just hours before the recent passage of tropical storm Gonzalo.

“This decision to terminate followed a full internal investigation of the incident during which the pilots were represented,” Evans said, according to the statement. “The Lee-ward Islands Airline Pilots Association (LIALPA) has repeatedly called for LIAT’s management to take action against indiscipline and we are doing just that.”

LIAT reiterated that it is committed to improving its service delivery to the public and will continue to take appropriate action as required from time to time.
