Chief Education Officer out of intensive care

Chief Education Officer Olato Sam, who was admitted to a city hospital last week in a critical condition, has been moved from the intensive care unit (ICU).

Though Sam has been moved from the ICU, he is not yet in the clear, according to Education Minister Priya Manickchand, who said he is still under observation. However, she said, he relayed that he was doing much better and recovering well.

Manickchand also expressed hope that Sam makes a full recovery.

The Education Minister further said that if Sam needed time to rest, it would be given to him. The ministry is awaiting the doctor’s orders, she said. “Of course, if the doctor says he needs time to take sick leave, he’ll get that,” Manickchand assured.

In January of 2011, Sam was appointed to the post of the Chief Education Officer.
