Several injured in crash at Stewartville

Several persons sustained injuries when a motorcar slammed into a minibus at Stewartville, West Coast Demerara around 4 pm on Monday.

They were rushed to the Leonora Cottage Hospital where they were treated. Four persons, including the driver of the Toyota Allex car, PNN 3751, whose name was given as Seepaul, were transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital in an ambulance.

Driver of the minibus, BGG 6980, Johnny Lillah was later transferred in another vehicle while the other passengers, including a few children remained patients at the Leonora Hospital.

Lillah of Tuschen, East Bank Essequibo said he was in his lane proceeding to Vreed-en-Hoop when he saw the car swerve into his path.

He said he pulled over to the other lane to avoid a collision but the driver kept coming towards him and “lashed the bus on the left side.”
