(Trinidad Express) In an effort to reduce Trinidad’s carbon footprints, Minister of State in the Ministry of Environment and Water Resources, Ramona Ramdial said, Trinidad and Tobago will have a state-of-the art recycling plant very soon.
“The recycling plant would cost around $400mTT,” Ramdial said.
She revealed this Wednesday during the prize giving ceremony of the “I Am Secondary School Green Building” competition at the Trinidad and Tobago Coalition of Services Industries (TTCSI’s) Secretariat, 45, Cornelio Street, Wood-brook. She noted that there are a number of initiatives that the government is undertaking when it comes to the environment and sustainability.
“One of our biggest initiatives emanating from the Beetham fire—we have fast track the process under the Ministry of Planning and the Economy to set up a recycling plant in Trinidad and Tobago,” she said.
“It is called the A to Z recycling plant. We will be working with one of our Asian counterparts where all materials with respect to waste management and disposal will be recycled; and the materials that are recycled can be used locally and internationally,” Ramdial added.
When will the recycling plant be up and running?
Ramdial could not give an exact date but said they were currently in discussion with the relevant authorities.
