Ten-year-old Bloomfield cyclist dies in accident

The police say they are investigating a fatal accident that occurred at about 1110h. today on the main road at Bloomfield, Corentyne, and which resulted in the death of pedal cyclist Saleena Anthony, 10 years, of Bloomfield.

Investigations so far have revealed that Anthony was riding a bicycle when it is alleged that she rode out of an access road onto the main road and into the path of a mini-bus. She was struck down and taken to the Port Mourant Hospital where she succumbed while receiving medical treatment.

The driver of the mini-bus is in police custody assisting with the investigations.
