Auto dealer shot in Alberttown attack

An auto dealer was shot by a gunman last evening while drinking with several persons opposite his business place on Light Street, Alberttown.

Wounded is Ram Sanasie, proprietor of Ram’s Auto Spares on Fourth and Light streets, who was shot twice to his abdomen and once to his leg. He was up to press time being treated at a city hospital.

When approached, members of Sanasie’s family said that they were too distraught to speak.

According to a source, Sanasie was drinking with the men shortly after 6pm when two young men rode up on a motorcycle and one of them opened fire on him. The man said that he recalled hearing three shots. The source added that the men fled on the motorcycle, without robbing anyone.

Last evening, police were seen combing the scene for spent shells and a source told this newspaper that the police recovered two warheads.

In 2012, Sanasie and his wife were relieved of jewellery and he was sprayed with mace while standing outside of the Edge Night club on Main Street. They were later attacked and robbed again by the same perpetrators.
