The police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of Selwyn Bess, 33 years, of Grove Housing Scheme, EBD, which occurred during last night.
Initial investigations, police say, have revealed that an argument developed among a group of men in a shop, during which shots were discharged. Bess who was also in the shop was later found dead with a suspected gunshot injury to his chest.
The body is at the Bartica Hospital mortuary awaiting a PME.
A man is in police custody assisting with the investigations.
