The police say they are conducting investigations into the circumstances surrounding the death of logger Eldon Gaime, 34 years, of Pomona Village, Essequibo Coast, which occurred at about 0100h. yesterday at Oku Backdam, Cuyuni.
Investigations so far, police say, indicate that Gaime accidentally shot himself through his throat with an improvised 12 gauge shotgun while travelling on a tractor.
The improvised shotgun and an empty casing have been recovered by the police.
The driver of the vehicle and another man are in police custody assisting with the investigations.
