Miner sentenced for assault, other matters after changing plea to guilty

A miner will be a guest of the state for the next twenty-seven months, after he changed his initial not guilty plea to 10 charges including resisting arrest, assaulting and using abusive and indecent language on police officers, and assault meted out to his partner.

According to Prosecutor Jomo Nichols, Orlando Grumble, 39, of 207 Alexander Street, Lacytown and Karen Bender live in the same area and shared a relationship.

Grumble admitted that on February 19 at Charlotte Street, he had assaulted and verbally abused Bender. He also accepted that he had resisted arrest by Police Constable 21146 Hodge, during which he had assaulted and verbally abused the officer at Alexander Street
