Two new witnesses testify in Razack murder PI

The second preliminary inquiry (PI) into the murder of former Swiss House Cambio owner Farouk Razack continued in court yesterday before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry with two new witnesses testifying.

Former inspector of police Sydney Charles who was a detective during the murder investigation and longtime neighbour of the couple David Faulkner took the stand along with Sergeant Lilian Scotland who made her third appearance in court.

During last week’s court session the prosecution was warned by the magistrate of the lengthy period of time being taken to find witnesses. This issue resurfaced yesterday, only this time it was the defence counsel who reiterated the magistrate’s earlier claims as the PI continued at a slow pace because of the lack of witnesses. It was related by Prosecutor Bharat Mangru that there are still eight witness remaining.

Carol Ann Lynch, wife of the deceased, and a former beauty queen was first charged in May of 2007 after Razack was found dead on the floor of their Eping Avenue, Bel Air home. Following a PI, then Magistrate Gordon Gilhuys in late December 2007 had ruled that no prima facie case was made out against her and she was subsequently discharged. However, Lynch was charged again.
