Port security seminar

20140515repsRepresentatives from the International Port Security Program, in conjunction with the Maritime Administration of Guyana, conducted a port security seminar on May 6-8, 2014, at the Regency Hotel. This seminar was the second in a series of four programs being conducted by U.S. Coast Guard facilitators.

The seminar focused on boosting the capacity of Guyana’s port-facilities to comply with International Ship and Port Security Code requirements for conducting maritime drills and exercises. According to U.S. Coast Guard Lieutenant Commander Jonathan Mangum, “The completion of drills and exercises are key functions of a healthy port security community, as they allow personnel with security duties and management to work through simulated problems and develop contingency plans.” This US embassy photo shows the participants.
