Trainee pilot shot, injured during row at Diamond

A trainee pilot was early yesterday morning shot during an altercation with a man known to him at Diamond. East Bank Demerara.

The wounded man was identified by police as Corwin St Hellen, 20, of Diamond Housing Scheme.

According to a press release, around 00:05 hrs St Hellen was involved in an argument with a man during which he was shot and injured in his right thigh.

He was subsequently admitted to hospital.

The suspect has not been arrested as yet.

Contacted, Crime Chief Leslie James told this newspaper that a high-powered weapon was used in the shooting. He said the shooting incident occurred at Third Avenue, Diamond where St Hellen lived, but the circumstances surrounding it are still sketchy.
