Sewage problems continue at refurbished Georgetown Magistrate’s Court

A mere two months after the sewerage system at the refurbished Georgetown Magistrate’s court was said to have been fixed, effluent seeping out on Thursday forced police ranks to place planks across the muck to allow members of the public to traverse.

The planks placed over the leaking sewerage system.

The sewerage system which was said to have been problematic from the inception had supposedly been repaired after the issue was brought to light in April.

Members of the public attending court, as well as the officers on duty were forced to endure the odour emanating from the overflowing line. One woman, speaking to no one in particular, said “this place proper stink, is like they trying fuh treat we like prisoners tuh.”

Sittings resumed at the courts in January after an expensive makeover. It appears that not enough attention was placed on the sewerage system which had posed problems in the past.
