Salesman charged with embezzling $8M, faking robbery

Rayon Nurse, a sales representative who claimed he was robbed of over $8M cash at gun point on Monday, actually embezzled the cash from three of the company’s customers, a court was told yesterday.

Nurse, 29, a sales representative with Marketing and Distribution Inc., appeared before Magistrate Fabayo Azore yesterday and was released on a total of $700,000 bail after denying the charges instituted against him.

He was read three charges of embezzlement by Magistrate Fabayo Azore, in which he is purported to have received two separate sums of $2M cash as well as $4.7M from three customers.

Also, Nurse is alleged to have uttered information surrounding the disappearance of the money to Constable Kite on July 3rd, knowing it was false.

Nurse, had reported that two men had robbed him of the cash at gun point but the police say that investigations later revealed that the cash was in fact embezzled by him.

His attorney, James Bond, refuted the allegations, saying that his client was robbed.

Nurse was granted $200,000 bail on each of the embezzlement charges and $100,000 on the false information charge.

His next court date is July 8.
