North West man jailed over theft of motor blower

A North West District man who was found guilty of stealing a motor blower was yesterday sentenced to prison when he appeared before Magistrate Sunil Scarce at the Anna Regina Magistrate’s Court.

Braff Emanuel was charged on April 14 with simple larceny after the police said that he stole the motor blower valued $170,000 property of Roopan Ramotar. The man was working on Ramotar’s estate at Caledonia, Lower Pomeroon River when the motor blower went missing. It was later found in the possession of Emanuel but he denied stealing it.

He had pleaded not guilty and was granted $100,000 bail but was unable to raise it so he was placed in the custody of the state.

Emanuel, who was not represented by an attorney, was found guilty yesterday and sentenced to 10 months in prison.
