Guard, cop die after bike collision on Diamond road

Two motorcyclists died after riding into each other along the Diamond Access Road on Friday night.

Dead are security guard Stanley Adams, 47, of Lot 480 Section C Block Y Grove Housing Scheme, East Bank Demerara and policeman Andrew Forde, 22, of Lot 194 Section C Block Y Diamond, East Bank Demerara. It was reported that the collision occurred after Forde, who was heading east allegedly overtook a vehicle and then slammed head on into Adams, who was coming from the opposite direction.

A police press release stated that Adams, a security guard attached to Demerara Distillers Limited and Forde, a Police Constable, were riding motor cycles along the Diamond Access Road, when they collided at approximately 10pm. They were taken to the Diamond Diagnostic Centre, where they were both pronounced dead on arrival, police said.

However, Markus Adams told Stabroek News that his father was taken to the hospital alive. Markus said his father walked into the hospital but later died while receiving treatment. Forde’s aunt said when she got the news her nephew had already died. Investigations are in progress.
