BK employees on station bail over theft of 15 tons stone

Four employees of the BK Group of Companies along with seven other persons were released on station bail on Wednesday night after allegedly stealing 250 bags of stone valued $180,000 on Sunday, according to a release from BK via Tagman Media.

The release said that the interception was made on Sunday at around 9:30h at the Parika Beach, where the crew was waiting on the tide to rise in order to return to BK Quarries in the Mazaruni. The release said that the four BK Group employees comprising the captain of the vessel, the engineer and two sailors and seven others from the Parika Outfall area removed the fifteen tons of stone without permission from BK’s vessel MT Gail and placed it on an old wrecked barge, Alana 3.

The release added that the stolen stone, some of which was already bagged, was taken to the Parika Police Station following the interception. Investigations are continuing. The release said that the 11 are expected to be charged and placed before the court.
