A man was yesterday fined $25,000 for stealing two bottles of high wine from Distribution Services Limited (DSL).
If he is unable to pay the fine, Shawn Ramdan will have to serve the alternative of one month in jail.
He had appeared Friday before Magistrate Geeta Chandan-Edmond in Georgetown and pleaded guilty to the charge that on November 6, at DSL, located at 38 Industrial Site, Ruimveldt, he stole two 200ml bottles of high wine, valued $562.
The court delayed sentencing until yesterday in order to facilitate a further investigation after it was learned that Ramdan is in the habit of committing such offences.
