Eileen Cox was a national treasure, says PSC

The executive and members of the Private Sector Commission (PSC) have expressed their profound condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of consumer rights activist Eileen Cox on her passing.

A PSC press release described Cox as an extraordinary person who served Guyana and its people with selfless diligence and determination. Further the release said, in her advocacy she often had to contend with members of the PSC in relation to many issues yet it was done in the manner of a consummate professional, which won the respect of the entire commission.

As the doyenne of the consumer movement in Guyana she pioneered the Caribbean consumer rights movement and dedicated her life to helping citizens across the region, the statement said.

“Ms Cox was a national treasure and she will be sorely missed by all who came into contact with her,” the PSC said.
