Three people killed, one wounded in shootings at Jewish centres in Kansas

OVERLAND PARK, Kansas,  (Reuters) – Three people were killed in shootings at Jewish centres in Kansas today, and a suspect was in custody, police and local media said.

The shootings occurred at the Jewish Community Center of Greater Kansas City in Overland Park, Kansas, and at Village Shalom, an assisted living centre about a mile away, according to local media.

Overland Park police said there were three confirmed fatalities and a person in custody.

Police did not immediately provide any further details.

A spokeswoman for Overland Park Regional Medical Center said the hospital was treating a 14-year-old male who suffered a gunshot wound and who was in critical condition.

Located in Kansas state, Overland Park is a suburb of Kansas City, Missouri.
