We have to make where we are liveable

Dear Editor,

When we look at life and the portion that has been allotted to us we feel cheated, sometimes discontented and unworthy. That is because we are always looking at somebody else, measuring ourselves with others and our material possessions with theirs.

But we were not made to look the same, be the same, or be gifted in the same areas. We were made different. We were born to fulfil different purposes on earth and therefore we need to focus on being the best that we can on our side of the field and make it the best that it can be.

When we set our hearts and minds to doing that, what is on the other side would not be so appealing to us any more to the extent that we would want to lodge over there. We have to make where we are livable and comfortable and appealing.

‘Come see meh and come live with meh a two different things.’ This is an old saying which simply means that what you see from the outside is not what you get when you’re on the inside.

Therefore, from a distance the other side may look good but then looks can be pretty deceiving; no one can know it but those who have been bitten by the bug.

Yours faithfully,

Nicola Jackson
