I refer to the article in SN dated 16th March, 2014 re the pumps bought by the government from India at a cost of US$4M and to enquire whatever happened to the 40-odd pumps with discharge units bought in the 70’s under an American Exim bank loan?
The pumps were American made but manufactured in Brazil. To my knowledge only about a dozen of these pumps were ever installed along the coast. Some were stored at the sea defence site at Lusignan and the majority stored at Timehri to protect them from the salt air.
It would be interesting to know what has become of the pumps stored at Timehri.
