Two paragraphs were omitted from yesterday’s editorial entitled ‘All change in India,’ and consequently we are reproducing them below.
“Of course, it is the case that Mr Modi will find that the United States is concerned not simply with India-Pakistan relations, but will also want to see whether there will be any substantial change in India’s policy towards the American departure from Afghanistan, a country in whose travails Pakistan has retained an immense interest.
“Putting foreign policy issues together with the issue of a resumption of growth of India’s economy on which he focused intensely during his campaign, Mr Modi will be well aware that this home issue is the one in which his supporters will be the most interested as his tenure of office evolves.”
