Roads at back of Phase Three Good Hope are completely neglected

Dear Editor,

I am writing to raise an issue with whoever in the PPP government wants to hear, since it seems only public lobbying of one’s plight brings about a solution. I’ve been living in Good Hope Phase Three for the past year. Editor, the roads are dangerous to drive and walk on, and as I write this letter a pothole has gotten so deep and wide that residents take turns bailing the water out, while vehicles are forced to drive on a muddy patch of land to get in and out of the village.

It seems like the government of the day is more interested in upgrading the road network in parts of the village where their supporters live. Editor, they are digging and recapping streets in the village that did not need repairs, and are forgetting about people who are in the back of the village. I just want to remind the powers that be, that we pay taxes and had to find sizable downpayments for our lands with a promise of basic infrastructure.

As a hardworking, poor Guyanese I do not know where to turn, for I don’t want to believe that the government and their associates are reaping the benefits of the hard-working common man while we live like illegal immigrants.

Yours faithfully,
