Many ratepayers happy about no-confidence motion

Dear Editor,

One gleefully read in your publication yesterday that the main opposition party in parliament “would give support to the AFC’s planned no-confidence motion against government, setting the stage for new general elections.”

Many ratepayers in this country and especially in the NDC jurisdiction of LBI/Better Hope on the East Coast of Demerara would gleefully accept this move by those in opposition in the House. Local rate and taxpayers are peeved here and much dissatisfied with the poor or selective services they are getting for the rates and taxes they are painfully paying to this incompetent local authority.

The drainage is poor and selective, and so too is the garbage collection.

Residents are also worried that government or the NDC is turning a blind eye to the damage roaming cows, horses, sheep, goats and pigs are inflicting on the community’s image and properties, not forgetting the wilful blind eye the NDC turns to greedy squatters.

Most of the tarmac roads were poorly constructed and are now woefully damaged with large holes and broken shoulders.

 Yours faithfully,
