Success well affected by fallen GPL transformer

Dear Editor,

Guyana Water Incorporated (GWI) wishes to respond to the letter published in the Stabroek News, on Friday, August 8, 2014, titled ‘Success Village water pump down again.’

GWI thanks your publication for consistently highlighting the issues which continue to affect our customers.

However, the company wishes to advise that the service disruption described in the letter was not caused by an internal problem at our water production facility. The facility which serves the Success and Chateau Margot communities is fully operational.

The disruption resulted from a fallen transformer which affected the electrical power at our water production facility.

We apologize to all affected customers and wish to express appreciation to the Guyana Power and Light Company for restoring electricity.

GWI wishes to remind all customers that service disruptions can be reported to GWI’s Customer Services Call Centre on 227-8701/03/04, e-mail customercallcentre@gwi.gy or add GWI to Blackberry Messenger via pin # 296185F9. Customers can also visit www.gwiguyana.com, e-mail: pro@gwi.gy or ‘like’ GWI’s Facebook fan-page www.facebook.com/everydropcountsgy

Yours faithfully,
Timothy Austin
