Why the silence from the Guyana Council of Churches on Munroe’s death?

Dear Editor,

On Sunday, through your newspaper we learnt of the tragic death of the popular Rev Myles Munroe, his wife and all the other passengers as their aircraft crashed on landing.

I am puzzled as to why there has been an eerie silence, especially from the Guyana Council of Churches and I wish to apologize if there were publications/eulogies in other print media.

I never knew Dr Munroe personally, but many years ago I purchased several of his tapes from the Brickdam Baptist Church and followed his sermons on TV. I read recently via the Trinidad Guardian that the Trinidad Council of Churches had released a statement of sympathy and a eulogy to his family and brethren.

One should note that President D Ramotar did give his personal sympathy and that of the nation. Yesterday there was in SN a eulogy from the Rev Gideon Cecil, and if I may borrow a quote from him, “The quality of his message will be remembered and immortalized.”

In conclusion, may their souls rest in peace.

 Yours faithfully,

V O Patrick
