New top cop

The new Police Commissioner (ag) Seelall Persaud moved into his new office on Tuesday. He succeeds retired commissioner Leroy Brumell and was previously the Crime Chief. Persaud takes on this new portfolio at a time when the police are struggling to make breakthroughs in crime cases and win the confidence of members of the public. In this photograph Persaud poses for reporters following a farewell parade on Wednesday for Assistant Commissioner of Police, George Vyphuis who now heads into retirement.
