Inter Ward football tourney set to be completed Sunday

The Mayor’s 79th birth anniversary seven-a-side inter-ward knockout tournament will recommence on Sunday with the final round of matches at the Den Amstel Community ground, West Coast Demerara.

In the opening fixture, a quarter final affair, Sara Lodge will face off against North Sophia at 14:00hrs. The second matchup at 14:30hrs will see Pouderoyen opposing North East La Penitence whilst Uitvlugt will engage South Sophia in the third showdown at 15:00hrs.

In the final quarterfinal fixture at 15:30hrs, home side Den Amstel will battle Kitty. Upon the conclusion of the quarterfinal round, the semi-final stage will commence to determine the event’s finalists. Following the end of the semi-finals, the event’s final will commence.

The tournament winners will receive $100,000, the championship trophy and hampers donated by Ricks and Sari Agro Industries while the runners-up will pocket $50,000 and the second place trophy.

Additional sponsors of the event include Guyana Telephone and Telegraph Company, the Guyana Lottery Company, Giftland Officemax, MACORP, Chris Fernandes, Mark Bender, Jermaine Langevine of White Castle Fish Shop and Trophy Stall.
