Riddim Squad outhustled Santos 3-1 when the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) National Premier League continued at the Georgetown Football Club (GFC) ground, Bourda on Sunday.
Sheldon Hope opened the scoring for the Mocha based side in the 27th minute, lobbing his effort from just inside the centre of the box over the advancing ‘keeper following a perfectly played through pass by Lyliton Ramsay from the centre of midfield.
However, Riddim Squad would suffer a setback in the closing minutes of the half, as Hope was shown a straight red card in the 45th+1 minute for striking his defensive marker.
Santos would quickly take advantage of their numerical superiority, netting the timely equaliser through a Linden Picket header into the left side of the net from a right sided free kick in the 45th+3 minute.
Nonetheless, the goal seemed to galvanize the Mocha side as Amos Ramsay netted the go-ahead goal in the 63rd minute, powering his right footed strike from within the left side of the area, into the left hand corner after pouncing on a poorly cleared left sided cross.
Riddim Squad would double their advantage in the 81st minute as Jermin Liverpool placed his right footed effort into the bottom right hand corner from the right side of the box, after the opposing custodian had ventured off his line in anticipation of a cross.
Another hindrance would taint the well-deserved win as Sherwin Hope was sent off in the 90th+4 minute after picking up his second bookable offence.
In the earlier fixture, Linden unit Winners Connection upset BK Western Tigers 3-1. Rawle Gittens led the winners with a brace in the sixth and 44th minutes while Keon Sears scored in the 74th minute. On target in the loss was Jerome Richardson in the 33rd minute.
Over at the Den Amstel ground, home side Den Amstel Porknockers led by a Jeffrey Perreira double in the 66th and 75th minutes crushed Buxton United 3-0. Opening the scoring in the 24th minute for the winners was Orett Stephenson.
