Venezuela wins 40, Guyana 38 gold medals

The first South American Cup Karate Championships which was held at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall under the auspices of the International Karate Daigaku saw two exciting days of martial arts performed at the highest level from the winning Venezuelan team along with Suriname and Guyana.

Venezuela, which carted off 40 gold, 30 silver and 8 bronze medals, dominated the tournament with the Guyana Karate College (GKC) sharing the second spot with 38 gold, 29 silver and 40 bronze medals. The Association-do Shotokan Karate of Guyana earned 38 gold, 39 silver and 41 bronze medals while
