PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad, CMC – Kieron Pollard stroked his fourth first class century to inspire Trinidad and Tobago in their Regional Four-Day match against Jamaica here Friday.
The right-hander’s typically stroke-filled 111 formed the foundation of T&T’s 244 all out after they won the toss and opted to bat first on the opening day of the sixth round contest at Queen’s Park Oval.
At the close, Jamaica were 24 without loss in the seven overs available with Jon-Ross Campbell on 12 and John Campbell, 10.
Pollard, however, who recently returned from a six-month injury layoff, took the headlines with a splendid innings. He clubbed eight fours and six sixes, facing 169 balls in 226 minutes at the crease.
The right-hander got support from opener Evin Lewis who cracked 63, while fellow opener Adrian Barath got 26.
Lewis and Barath put on 37 before Barath departed, leading to a slump as Jamaica tumbled to 58 for three.
Pollard joined Lewis to add 84 for the fourth wicket and repair the innings, with the left-handed Lewis facing 163 balls in 197 minutes, and striking nine fours.
