GPF beat Beacons 3-1 in GFA first division league

The Guyana Police Force (GPF) arrested Beacons FC by a 3-1 score line when the Georgetown Football Association (GFA) first division league continued at the Tucville Community Centre ground on Saturday.

 

Nigel Denny would push Beacons into the lead in the 27th minute compliments of flat right footed strike into the lower left hand corner.

Rondell Arthur almost levelled the scores six minutes later as he was denied by Beacons keeper in a one-on-one situation within the centre of the penalty area, after racing onto a lobbed through pass.

Police would eventually grab the equaliser in the 60th minute as Arthur netted with as strike to the right hand side of the net after, pouncing on a poor clearance within the centre of the box from a right sided cross.

Beacons almost retook the lead in the in the 72nd minute as Daniel Moshott lashed his effort just over the crossbar from within the left side of the area, after collecting a pass from the right side of the field.

However the lawmen would take the lead for the first time in the fixture through a superbly struck 26 yard right footed Dwayne Charles freekick in the 88th minute.

Stepping up to take the spot kick following an infringement in the centre of the field, Charles would unleash a curling effort that sailed perfectly into the top left hand corner of the woodwork.

The come-from-behind win would be sealed two minutes later as Junior Gordon rifled his right footed effort into the lower left hand corner from the centre of the field after evading his marker just outside the left side of the box.

In the opening second division fixture, Santos led by a Edward Blackman hat trick in the 19th, 25th and 58th minutes, crushed Houston Stars by a 5-0 margin. Sealing the result with solo strikes in the ninth and 50th minute were Orin Yarde and Seon McKenzie respectively.
